Shopping in Citadel of Scorcery (CoS)
In Citadel of Sorcery there is a Merchant District in each of the seven Citadel Tiers. This consists of a series of
small winding streets with small shops packed together. Player can participate in 'Window Shopping' and creating
relationships with the owners of the shops.
Therefore, in addition to the standard list-style browsing of shop wares, there are little shops were you can seek out
that special helmet, map, or poison that you need. The game rewards you for selling items you obtain in your adventures
to the appropriate shop. The better the item, the more the shopkeeper appreciates your business. This is reflected
in the reputation you develop with that shopkeeper. They start to recognize you, and eventually, start offering you
special deals, and as you gain even more reputation with them, special items that they hold back from other players
who don't have as good a rapport. Thus, selling items to NPCs in shops has a worth more than just the money you make.
The Merchant District, like all businesses in the World, have actual hours of operation. Since they are owned by
'living' NPCs...The NPCs in Cos are unlike NPCs in most games, they live a life rather than stand in a position.
They have a home, friends, they do things when they aren't working, sleep at night, go to bars, shop gossip, etc.
About the Merchant District NPCs... at night they close up shop. The Merchant District is only open for business during
the day. Come night players can window shop (like all building in CoS, they have actual windows with see thru glass.
When you look in or out of any building you always see what you would expect.)
As for night time shopping, since the Merchant District is closed at night, players can go shopping in the Black Market. This exists under the city.
Down in the sewers there is an area where some shady characters gather each night to sell their wares. Wandering around
the sewers and Black Market you'll discover these merchants and their offerings (as well as few other things).
